Yogã
"Yoga is experienced in that mind which has ceased to identify itself with its vascillating waves of perception. "
- Patanjali's Yoga Sutras I, II
What does this mean? Yoga is not just excercise or about losing weight and being fit. Yoga is a state. Yoga is a way of life that includes everything from breathing, eating, observing, understanding and using the body, and conducting oneself in society with fellow human beings. Any one of these not done correctly may disrupt the functioning of the other.
Yoga is that way of life that is experienced, simply when one has reached an unshakable state of calm and awareness, of the internal and external worlds.
Everything that we experience is based on our perception of the world, through conditioning, understanding, judging, deciding. These are the 'vascillating waves of perception'. But we must realise that the mind and the self are not the same. The self that has detached itself from the mind and its vascillating waves, is on it's way to the boundless state of Yogã.
